Transfer America provides some tips on how to save money on airfare this year. The most important thing when you decide to travel is timing. Everything depends on timing. With the economy as it is, passengers are discovering that it is getting harder and harder to find last-minute deals. The following is a list of tips on how you and your family can save money on your next vacation.

1. Know how far in advance to book

Understand the right time to book is extremely important. The best times to book a domestic flight is about six weeks or three to four months in advance. If you wish to travel overseas book your flight at least 21 to 22 weeks in advance. The same goes for the Caribbean which is 11 to 12 weeks.

2. Consider shoulder season travel to popular destinations

Always vacation during the off-season. For example, if you are planning a trip to Europe try to consider flying late August when the prices drop.

3. Don’t limit your searches to certain times of the week

Advertisements and deals can appear at any time of the week. By only searching on certain days, you limit yourself to the possibility of finding a great deal.

4. Follow your favorite airlines on social networks

Some airlines will post special deals on their Twitter or Facebook page. Those who follow them will be the first to know about the deals.

5. Fly on less popular days and times

Try flying on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday. These days are usually less popular and don’t forget early morning flights or overnight flights are often cheaper.

6. Use online tools

Sites like Fly.com provide calendars which allow consumers to see when flight fares are the lowest. Other sites offer recommendations of whether to purchase your ticket now or later.

With the economy as it is, many are desperate to lighten the load in the financial category. By selling their timeshares they will no longer be responsible for annual fees and dues which will enable the owners to focus on other bills. However, since January this year, complaints against timeshare scams have increased by 200. Owners are desperately trying to sell their timeshares and fallen for the typical timeshare resale scam.

The Better Business Bureau is warning timeshare owners to be wary of companies who charge an upfront fee. In addition, never agree to anything online or over the phone. Make sure you do your research on the company before paying them thousands of dollars to sell your timeshare. Another tip the BBB stated is to always check the company with the Real Estate Commission.

Transfer America warns consumers to learn all the facts before purchasing a timeshare. Many are unaware of the excessive fees and yearly maintenance fees that come with owning a timeshare. Though representatives might try to convince you otherwise, owning a timeshare is a liability and a bad investment. With the decline of the economy, more and more timeshare owners are trying to get rid of their timeshare and are listing them online. Many owners are posting their timeshares on EBay for $1 while others are giving them away for free.

Many sites are now offering timeshare owners a way to advertise their timeshare to either sell or rent. However, many times consumers are able to find a cheaper deal at the same resort. As a result, many timeshare owners have become desperate and scammers are aware of that fact. This has led to the creation of timeshare resale companies. These companies often claim to have a buyer waiting to purchase the timeshare but the seller will have to pay a processing fee before any information is given. Often times the companies disappear once they receive the money.

To prevent becoming a victim to a timeshare scam, make sure to always check the business with the Better Business Bureau. In addition, never pay any upfront fees. The company should be compensated after they sell your timeshare.

Though the pitch has changed, the core of their plot still remains the same. Though the BBB and the FBI has warned residents of the U.S. to be aware of the different schemes, many are still becoming victims of a scam.

Fly-by-night companies are companies that “promise to sell or transfer ownership of timeshare properties in exchange for hundreds to thousands of dollars in up-front fees, but end up not delivering the promised services”.

These hideous practices have been around since the 1990s and are continuing to grow every year. Thousands of timeshare owners are being conned out of millions of dollars each day. According to the FBI in San Diego, a consumer alert has been released about timeshare scams. The reason these companies are able to con these owners is because of how desperate these people are. Since there is no market for timeshare resale, it is extremely hard to get rid of a timeshare once you own it. Maintenance fees increase every single year regardless if the timeshare is used or not.

Warnings have been released in hopes of parting some knowledge to timeshare owners. The government hopes that their messages will help owners be able to realize when a company is a scam. Selling timeshares is a tricky thing and you must be aware of all the different scams in the world.

The Timeshare Resale Bill has just passed the Florida Senate 40-0. This bill is aimed to control and crack down on the number one consumer complaint, Timeshare resale scams. Since the House and Senate both approved the bill, it now moves forward for approval from the governor.

Two years ago, the Palm Beach Post reported that timeshare resale fraud was one of the top consumer complaints in Florida, but few of the principals saw any jail time. An estimated twelve thousand complaints were counted nationwide and no one had a solution. The resale companies would promise gullible timeshare owners that they had someone ready to purchase their timeshare. However, this service came at a price and once the timeshare owner paid the company, they would never hear from them again. These timeshare resale companies would make thousands of dollars and there was no one stopping them.

Finally, the Attorney General, Pam Bondi, created the Timeshare-Resale Fraud Bill that “aims to tighten state rules that proved ineffective in deterring a string of companies form trying the same thing”. One of the new rule state that each company will be required to provide the name and address of the timeshare buyers.

Bondi commented, “This legislation is essential in stopping fraudulent timeshare resale companies from preying on consumers. I applaud the Florida Legislature for passing this bill and protecting Florida’s consumers.”

Transfer America supports this new bill and encourages timeshare owners to educate themselves so that they are not susceptible to timeshare resale fraud.

Timeshare scams have become a huge problem in the world today. Many timeshare owners have already fallen for these timeshare resale fraud companies and have lost thousands of dollars. The Better Business Bureau is currently warning consumers in Northern California about a company based in Las Vegas who are scamming timeshare owners into purchasing their services.

According to the BBB, a woman paid First Capital Financial Services Corp. more than $2,000 in hopes of getting rid of her timeshare. The company told this woman that the $2000 was a processing fee that they used to sell her timeshare for her. They promised her that the fee was going to be refunded as soon as the timeshare sold, but she never received the refund.
