Timeshare Rentals

Timeshare rentals are a fairly popular alternative to selling a timeshare. While the same precautions do apply, this area of timeshares is much less unscrupulous than actually timeshare resellers. There have been cases in which timeshare owners have been taken advantage of through timeshare rentals, but in most cases these scams come from reselling timeshares.

The most common reason to rent out a timeshare is because you know you will not be using your timeshare. However, many owners attempt to rent out their units because they can no longer afford to pay their timeshare ownership fees. They will try to rent out their timeshare for the cost of the maintenance fees so that they can avoid paying for a timeshare vacation they are not even going to use.

Sadly, there are a few problems with renting out a timeshare unit. First of all, the timeshare resorts are already renting out their unused inventory. This means that they will rent out your unit if you do not use it during your designated time slot. And what’s worse is that the resorts have no problem with renting your unit out for less than the cost of maintenance fees.

This makes for an even more competitive rental market. Not only will the resorts offer a lower rental price than you can but they also have access to far more advertising options than any individual timeshare owner. This is why it can be virtually impossible to rent out your timeshare unit.

So why rent out your unit if you cannot even find a renter who will pay the price of your maintenance fees? And why would any renter pay that price when the resort will offer the same unit for less. When it comes down to it if you need to get out of your timeshare because of the financial burden you should simply find an exit solution.
